How to hide imperfections

There is someone that will have looked at the mirror and thought that a certain imperfection in their body needs to be concealed. But that person doesn’t know that they have hidden treasures that they still have not found. In this post, more than learning how to hide imperfections, we’ll learn how to rebalance these and make our whole figure look more harmonious as a consequence.

These techniques to “camouflage” those parts of yourself that you might not like as much will also teach you how important it is to give value to your features for what they are. You can use these no matter what your body shape.

Colours can help hide imperfections

You should limit the number of colours you wear in a certain palette, to avoid contrast. If you like contrast, then try to place it strategically, in areas you want to optically slim. Use darker colours and matte fabrics for this purpose. If you want to give more vibrancy to your look, you can work on your accessories instead.

The cuts of clothing can camouflage too

Another thing you really want to consider is the cut of your clothes. If there is one area of your body you do not want to highlight, the hem of your clothes should be slightly above ore below that area and avoid any unnecessary volume.

Focus on your skinny bits

Everyone has these: they’re your earlobes, mandible, clavicles, wrists, ankles and knees. They’re more bony, and tend to be the least fatty areas in your body. This is why we’ll focus on these when rebalancing our fattier areas and have a more polished look in the end. When these aren’t covered carefully, the figure doesn’t exactly look it’s best.

A couple of tips to hide imperfections and reshape your silhouette

Let’s start with the head. One of the concerns you might have is how to hide your double chin, and the answer is not leaving your hair down. Cutting it short or simply tying it back will bring the focus back on your face. Also note that your hairstyle, you clothes’s necklines and any necklaces you wear can also rebalance the proprtions of your head. For example, a fringe may help if you don’t like having a big forehead.

If you have wide hips and tight shoulders, some detailing on the shoulders (like puffs and volants) can rebalance them and make you seem a bit more in shape. You might also think that you might have chubby arms. A 3/4 sleeve (or just pulling your sleeves back) can help thin them a little.

If you have a low barycentre, you might also consider using heel lifters to just balance the length of your legs with that of your torso. This last tip if for you if you are someone with wide hips and thinner legs: a skirt will suit you a lot better than a pair of trousers.
