How to look put together effortlessly

Have you ever thought about how to look put together effortlessly? If you have, then know that in order to look effortless, you need to put effort in all of your looks. Also, you need to put lots of discipline into your looks. Here are some easy tips to look put together effortlessly.

Keep your face looking fresh

When you aren’t wearing makeup, make sure you are doing a correct skincare routine regularly . When you do your makeup, don’t make it look like too much: concealer only where necessary, filled eyebrows, mascara and tinted lipgloss work well for a more fresh-faced look. If you want to put more makeup on, then make sure it will look good in person. And always put your sunscreen on! Trust me, it will also make your skin look brighter with time.

one of the ways to look put together effortlessly is to keep your makeup simple.

Take care of your nails

A lot of people don’t mention nail care. You don’t have to apply nail polish, just make sure to trim them and shape them well. This way they’ll look good when they’re bare too. Also, apply some cuticle oil on your cuticles (olive oil is fine too). If you choose to apply nail polish, choose a colour that is similar to that of your nails and that is sheer: that way you can wear it with every outfit and you won’t be able to notice if it’s grown out or not. This style is so easy to maintain, yet makes you look put together with any colour and any outfit you choose to wear because it blends with your nails and the rest of your hand. Just give at least 15 minutes of your time every week, and you’ll be able to look put together effortlessly.

Make sure your hair is put together

This is the reason why you should invest in a blow-dry every now and then. If you can’t do that, then make sure your hair looks tidy, and tie it back if necessary. When you dye your hair, choose something that goes well with your skin tone. When you have your hair styled, choose something that you can maintain for a couple of days (at least) and that goes well with your face shape.

You should go to a more expensive hairdresser’s if you know they do the job better. As this French saying goes, “if your outfit costs one euro, nobody will care about that when your hair is done well.” It’s true: you may have an outfit that you didn’t pay a lot for, but when your hair is styled properly you look a lot more expensive too so people won’t care about how much you paid your outfit for.

one of the ways to look put together effortlessly is to style your hair well.

Invest in timeless and neutral coloured pieces

The main neutral colours are white, ivory, black, beige, camel, brown, navy, terracotta, eggplant, forest green, olive green, grey. These colours look good on pretty much every skin tone. Obviously you choose the ones that work for you and buy pieces in these colours. You can then use these neutral pieces on their own or with a pop of colour. Using these you can also switch the formality or casualness of your look up or down, depending in the occasion. They don’t have to be expensive, as long as you can take care of them and you can actually feel and look good in them.

Take care of your clothes

You might think that people won’t notice, but you can actually tell if someone took care when getting dressed by seeing if their clothes are crumpled up or smooth. To make your clothes wrinkle-free, make sure to steam or iron them, and leave them to cool a couple of minutes before wearing them.

Also, consider investing in a lint remover: it will shave any lint off your knitwear, making it look as good as new. It doesn’t cost much, but it’s definitely worth it.

If you don’t want to do that though, consider buying clothes in fabrics that won’t crumple or wrinkle no matter how long you keep them at the bottom of the drawer. This way you can also save time that otherwise you could have spent ironing or steaming your clothes.

Invest in some good jewellery

Sometimes, a good piece of jewellery cam make a big difference to your mood as well. It will show that you have self-worth and don’t hesitate to communicate it. Buying some small and dainty pieces of jewellery will be another good investment. If nothing, buy yourself a good watch. It will also make you look more no-nonsense, perfect if you spend a lot of time at work.

Wear perfume/deodorant/antiperspirant

A light perfume never hurts, unless you’re allergic or it makes you feel unwell. Wear it on your neck and on your wrists. If you can’t do that, then wear a deodorant or antiperspirant. This way you won’t smell throughout the day.

Be careful about your undergarments!

This is probably the most important thing you want to know if you want to look put together. Your undergarments are something only you must know you are wearing, so choose them in a colour that is close to that of your skin tone. Never make the mistake of wearing white undergarments with a white shirt: people can see them, and you don’t want that.

Buy three of each undergarment: one that you can put in the wash, one to wear and one to spare. Prefer seamless ones, as they tend to be more comfortable and choose cotton ones, as they are more breathable. Don’t make this a matter of artistic expression: what you wear under your clothes should be practical, comfortable, and pretty much invisible to the onlooker. And you don’t need to buy shapewear, no matter what others make you think. You can do that if you want, but don’t sacrifice comfort in order to look good!

Plan your looks

OK. Here, in order to put more of the “put together effortlessly” element, you want to know your undertone/best colours, your face shape and your body shape. These will allow you to put less effort into your looks because a lot of the tough work will be done for you. It will help you shop strategically, putting less effort by already knowing what more or less works for you.

Make yourself a series of go-to looks for various times and situations: one look for work, one for school, one for various arrands and so on. This way, if you don’t know what to wear, you have this look that won’t go wrong. Also, each day or each week, make a plan on what pieces of clothing you intend to wear so you won’t have to stress about what your outfit will be that day.

Go monochrome

This is often my go-to when I don’t have much clue as what to wear. Either I wear different tones of the same colour, or I wear the same colour in different pieces of clothing. In the latter case, I like to play with the various textures of the fabric, so my monochrome look isn’t monotonous (or simply, boring). This last tip is the most effective one to look put together effortlessly: it’s really effortless!
